Supporting Evidence Document

 Prototype 1:

The main image of this advert will be someone stood in the woods when it starts to go dark at night. They will be surrounded by trees and it will be a long shot of them stood in the distance. The only lighting in the shot will be from the moon that is shining down. The ground will be covered in leaves as it is winter. The person will be wearing dark clothing to fit the colour scheme of the advert and with the conventions of the horror genre.

The title of the advert will be positioned at the top of the poster but it will instead be red so it will contrast with the black background around the main image. This will mean that is stands out and is easily seen.

The logo for the channel will have a black background with red writing so that it blends in with the background but is still visible as it has white and red writing on it against the black background.

The selling line will be placed at the bottom of the main image in white text so that it is visible as there will be no colours that will clash with this on the main image.

The release date will be placed underneath the title of the poster because the audience can see the key information first when they look at the poster.

The social media accounts usernames and logos will be in the right-hand bottom corner. They will be side by side and have the usernames for them to the side. Alongside this will be the channel numbers and the logos corresponding to the platform the audience can watch it from.

All of the text in this poster will be in a font that matches the typical conventions of the horror genre.

Prototype 2:

The main image for my this poster will be a close-up shot someone’s eyes through a window. There will be a light shining towards their eyes and the window will have raindrops on it. Surrounding this will be very dark and out of focus to emphasis the face. This will create a contrast that will focus the attention onto the persons eyes and the fear that they feel.

The title for the advert will be positioned at the top. This is a typical convention of adverts so this is where the audience will expect the name of the channel that is being advertised. The font for the title will fit the theme of horror and therefore will make the audience aware of what it is without looking at the entire thing.

Underneath the title, there will be a tagline that fits the theme of horror and will entice people to watch the channel.

This poster will be accompanied by a logo so that it is clearly recognisable, and the audience are more likely to remember a logo than a name. This will be placed in the top right-hand corner.

To allow the audience to be aware of when the channel will be available, I will put the release date underneath the main image of the channel so that they have more information and try to find it straight away and find that it is not there.

Social media links along with a website address will also be featured in this advert. These will be in a black font to match the title of the advert. This is so that all key information will be easily seen for the audience against the red background. These will be positioned in the bottom left-hand corner of the advert.

The channel numbers that the channel can be found on in the bottom right-hand corner. This is for Freeview and Sky which most people in the UK have access to.

Prototype 3:

The main image will be placed at the top half of the advert. It will be a picture that has been taken through some blurred glass so you can only see their silhouette and not be able to make out any of their facial features. They will be trying to get through as if they were chasing someone, establishing that they are the villain (binary opposition).

The title will be over the top of the main image and will be in white which relates to my channels title of ‘BoneScare 24’. This colour will also contrast with the darkness of the main image. The font will fit the conventions of the horror genre and will have jagged edges and look a bit disorientated.

The logo for the channel will be placed in the top left-hand corner adjacent to the title. This allows the audience to make the association between them. Below this will be the tagline to entice the audience to watch the channel when it releases.

The bottom of the advert will have social media links and where the channel can be found corresponding to their logos. This will also be accompanied by the release date to enable the audience to remember it as it is the last thing that they will probably see which means that they can pass this on to others that they think might be interested (social interaction- uses and gratifications theory).

Prototype 4:

The main image of this advert is going to cover the entire page. The shot will be taken as a full body shot and have an empty field around them. The person will be stood stationary looking behind them and look exhausted as if they had just been running. They will look really confused and stressed suggesting that someone is chasing them. The rest of the shot around them will be dark and have the sky in the background at night, with the moon in the top right corner. This is because stereotypically the horror genre takes place at night and the audience will know that it is to do with horror without reading the title etc. The moon is also a stereotypical convention of the horror genre as it suggests something supernatural is going to occur.

The logo for my channel will be placed in the top left-hand corner and will have the name of the channel next to it. Underneath the title will be the release date so that all the key information is seen first by the audience.

The font I will use will fit the conventions of the horror genre (jagged and old-fashioned). This will be in white to reflect the name of the channel. However, I will keep the font of the website different so that it is legible as it will be smaller than the other fonts. The colours of the fonts will be in red and white so that they contrast the darkness in the main image, making it legible.

The tagline is positioned in the bottom centre of the poster so that the key information is at the top and any extra information is at the bottom.

At the bottom of the advert will be all the places where the audience can find out additional information and where to find the channel. This includes Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TV channels like Sky and Freeview.
